My Buddy Tag Review: Why You Need This

Maybe it is the nerd in me, but every time I go somewhere busy with my kids, I think of the quote from Lord of the Rings “It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” My toddler is a mad man who loves to explore everywhere, to pet strange dogs and to see ALL the things there are to see when we are out and about. He generally leaves his listening skills in the car, which can make going places stressful.

My husband and I take the divide and conquer approach with our two kids. I usually have our youngest and he takes the lead with our toddler. I have always felt like I could, like I should, do more to ensure the safety of my child. Specifically, the toddler since he is the one on the move. This feeling lead me to discover My Buddy Tag. It is a tag that is wearable as a wristband that connects to your phone through Bluetooth.

Helps keep your kid close: an alert will be sent to your phone if your child ventures out of your proximity
Allows your kid to alert you if they need your assistance: My Buddy Tag has a panic button your child can press
Helps avoid drowning: A Water Safety Alert that will send you an alert if the wristband is submerged in water

We have taken My Buddy Tag along on a few adventures and overall we like it. At a $39.99 price point, it is extremely affordable. There is no monthly service fee. Because the device is waterproof, you do have to send your tag in for a replacement battery (~$15). The company states that the battery should last for a year, so even with the additional cost to replace a battery, this GPS tracker is still much more affordable than other options on the market.

My son loves wearing a watch like daddy. Once on, it cannot be removed without the use of a screwdriver. This means a stranger cannot easily remove it. The app is easy to use and allows you to adjust the distance your child can wander before an alarm is sent.
